Mohs Techs
Quality and speed are the most important values for our Mohs technicians. Our technicians undergo extensive training where they learn how to accurately process any tissue sample, from the dermis to cartilage to conjunctiva. This ensures technicians are well-equipped to match the needs of each of our clients.

STAINING TECHNIQUES
H&E
Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) is a duo of dyes widely used in histopathology to stain tissues. Hematoxylin colors the basophilic structures, like nuclei, a blueish purple while eosin counterstains eosinophilic structures, like collagen, varying shades of pink and orange. It is one of the best nuclear stains and is a primary diagnostic technique used in Mohs.
T-BLUE
Toluidine blue (T-blue) is an acidophilic dye that selectively stains acidic tissue components such as nucleic acids. It typically stains nuclei dark blue and polysaccharides purple. It is effective in basal cell carcinoma diagnosis for Mohs.
IHC
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a mix of different techniques used to essentially detect and localize antigens by utilizing the known antibodies that bind to them. It is usually used to diagnose malignant melanoma. As IHC techniques continue to evolve and improve, they are becoming more commonplace in Mohs.
At MohsPros, we proudly offer these IHC stains:
